PAYER SCIENCES DEEPENS COMMITMENT TO DATA ANALYTICS & INSIGHTS WITH LAUNCH OF PA REPORTER

First-of-Its-Kind Research Reveals Actionable Insights Into How Physicians and Office Managers Process and Perceive Specific Prior Authorization (PA) Criteria

Morristown, NJ, July 19, 2021—Today, two of the nation’s leading healthcare insights companies, Payer Sciences, the analytics-driven, full-service access marketing agency, and Verilogue, home of the largest healthcare database, have teamed up to announce the launch of PA Reporter, a first-of-its-kind, multi-wave research product based on large-scale, real-time surveys of physician practices.

The industry leading Publicis Health companies have applied proprietary data tools and analytic methodologies to provide clients never-before reported perceptions of specific brand-by-brand, payer-by-payer Prior Authorization (PA) criteria and processes. “PA Reporter breaks down the office-based prior authorization experience across a wide range of relevant attributes and variables,” said Eric Colwell, Principal and Co-founder, Payer Sciences. “For pharmaceutical manufacturers, PA Reporter provides deeper insight into the pain points of PA documentation, submission and support. For payers, PA Reporter can be used to strengthen utilization management and network provider relationships.”

The first wave of PA Reporter, available now, provides insights into PAs for treatments of rheumatoid arthritis. Results focusing on multiple sclerosis and migraine will be released soon, with more disease states added over time.

By collecting and analyzing practices’ first-hand experiences, captured at the moment they are completing each Prior Authorization (for a total of 4,500 Prior Authorizations or 1500 per therapeutic category) across multiple brands and payers, Payer Sciences has been able to extract valuable insights into:

  • The impact that the PA experience is having on brands at the point-of-care

  • Physician practices’ perceived level of difficulty in demonstrating compliance with utilization management criteria across different brands and payers

  • The role that office size and tenure has on proficiency and perception of PA processes

  • Practices’ impressions of payers—good, bad, and indifferent—and what that means to brands

  • Impressions of manufacturer support programs and the value (or lack thereof) being realized by office staff

Qualitative insights were also collected to augment the core data, adding color to the findings to help answer the why behind survey results.

PA Reporter may benefit a wide range of users—from brand managers and payer marketers seeking to cost-effectively maximize brand access, to patient support programs looking to benchmark performance, to payer organizations seeking to understand how their management tools work within their own networks, to health systems, researchers, policymakers and more.
